Shandy Ndjigue, COE’24

Shandy Ndjigue is a fourth-year honors student pursuing a major in bioengineering and a minor in psychology. She has always been intrigued by the intersection of biology, technology, and data analysis and is interested in computational biology, bioinformatics, genetics, and global maternal and fetal health. She serves as the vice president of both the Senior Year Experience Board and the Black Student Association, as well as an external ambassador for the African Student Organization. Ndjigue is also a Husky Ambassador, a College of Engineering Peer Mentor, and is involved with Northeastern University Teaching English Language and Literacy.

Chikamadu Okafor, COS’24

Chikamadu Okafor is a behavioral neuroscience major and a 2022 recipient of the Advancing Women in Science Scholarship. Outside of the classroom, she is involved with Northeastern’s Black Student Association and the Minority Association of PreHealth Students. She is also involved with Northeastern’s African Student Organization, currently serving as events coordinator and previously as secretary. She is interested in studying public health in West Africa through the lens of their medical facilities, training institutions, and governmental policies.

Oceane Kenfack Tonfack is a third-year computer science major with minors in pharmaceutical science and math. She serves as the treasurer of the African Student Organization, and is involved with the Black Student Association, Stepping on Another Level, and the Black Christian Fellowship.

Adwoa Sefah, S’22

Adwoa Sefah graduated with her bachelor’s in cell and molecular biology in 2022. She is currently enrolled at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and will graduate with her medical doctorate in 2026. Sefah was 12 when she and her two siblings left Ghana with their single mother, Juliana, who is Adwoa’s role model to this day. Her firsthand experience with medically underserved communities in Ghana has spurred her interest in pediatric surgery, health disparities, and healthcare access.
